Enquiries by interested parent

1) I have the intention to send my son to further his studies in Singapore in year 2012 (Secondary 1) How do I go about applying into the school and the accomodation, etc?

Answer: In order to ensure 100% entry into Singapore Government schools for your child, we would suggest that he start off with the holiday class in Singapore, where he would be taught English and Mathematics according to the syllabus in Singapore schools.

Pri 4 2009 - November to December
Pri 5 2010 - June, November & December
Pri 6 2011 - June, November & December
Sec 1 2012 - Officially start school in Singapore Government schools

During this holiday class (aka Singapore Homestay Programme), we would provide your son with free accommodation at our hostel. In addition to enhancing his academic abilities, the Singapore Homestay Programme would also develop his independence which would be beneficial when he ultimately study in Singapore in 2012.

We welcome you to visit our school and hostel with your son so as to have a better understanding of our system as well as the environment in which he would be housed.

2) The holiday classes you suggested in June, I think we only have a 2-week holiday here. Will my son be in time to finish the syllabus before sitting for the entrance test?

Answer: The holiday classes which we mentioned would be a 2-week programme whereby classes would be conducted daily with 2 hours of English and 2 hours of Mathematics. These are the subjects in which your son would be tested on for entry into Singapore Government Schools. We would also provide him with exam papers from the top 10 schools in Singapore for him to practice on so as to better prepare him for the entrance exams.

Whether the 2 weeks in June would be sufficient to prepare him for the entrance exam, we are unable to provide a definite answer until we have done an evaluation test with your son.

3) Is 2-week 2-hr lesson per day for each subject sufficient to prepare my son for the exam? So what do they do for the rest of the day after their lessons at the preparatory classes?

Answer: The 2-week holiday class will consist of 4 hours per day with 2 hours of English and 2 hours of Mathematics each. As they will be given homework daily, the rest of the day would be spent working on their homework as well as some leisure time of which they can have access to the internet for a limited time.

4) How does a student qualify for the free student hostel in the first place? The S$600 is to cover the 2 weeks' lesson only, am I right? What about the tutorials, food & laundry? How do you all charge for that?

Answer: Free accommodation will only be provided for students who attend our tutorial classes. The cost for this programme would be S$600, excluding meals and laundry. There would be NO charges for hostel accommodation. Laundry and food would be arranged for students upon request.

5) I understand some had asked the students to go for a 6-month preparatory classes in S'pore before the entrance exam. Is it possible for us to prepare my son here locally then send him for the entrance exam when time comes?

Answer: We do offer the 6-month preparatory course. This holiday class is an intensive course designed to provide students with a headstart before they join the 6-month preparatory course.

We recommend that preparation for the entrance exams be done in Singapore as our teachers have gone through the syllabus and are more familiar with the questions tested.

6) How do you all choose a school for the students?

Answer: You may let us know 2 of your preferred schools.
